TV
Guide used to be a staple at Chez Carlino, with an emphasis on “used to be.”
I
still see people occasionally picking it up on the supermarket checkout line, but
with the advent of the free online program guides supplied by local cable
providers, along with their quarterly magazines replete with features and
interviews, I long ago ceased seeing the point of spending money for a service
that you can get for free.
So
TV Guide and I parted company some time ago.
Which,
in a sort of circuitous route, brings me to today’s topic: Project MATS – an
acronym for merger, acquisition, transition, succession.
Sort
of catchy right? But what does it have to do with TV Guide?
Be
patient, as I will attempt to explain my line of thinking in a minute.
Some
of you may already be familiar with MATS, which we developed in-house roughly
two years ago. For those who aren’t, MATS
is a free online resource tool surrounding succession and ownership issues for
CPA firms via articles and case studies that serve to address all the critical succession FAQs. And trust
me there are lots of questions. And then more questions.
Project
MATS currently sits on the sites of State CPA Societies in Illinois, Michigan,
Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut and soon-to-be in New Jersey, in addition
to consulting concerns CPALeadership and RanOne.
In
reality, MATS is a guide for practitioners who are
concerned with current succession issues, or those who want to be proactive and
avoid a litany of problems down the road – a programming guide of sorts. Whether you’re a sole owner trying to gaze
into the crystal ball, or heading a multi-partner firm, transition and
succession are going to an integral part of both the present and the future.
If
you’re members of any of the aforementioned state societies and think that you
may have a succession hurdle or two down road, you might want to take a look –
and unlike TV Guide it’s free although no less informative.
For
those in a state where it’s not on your website just yet, click here for a complimentary evaluation.
Our
principals will be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have and
help pave the way for a successful succession. With a company pedigree of over
two decades in dealing with M&A and succession issues, it’s doubtful there
are many problems we haven’t encountered before.
So
let us help.
Unfortunately,
we won’t be able to provide a TV and movie programming grid in your market.
Even
our expertise only goes so far.
